Device specifications

Principle of operation

The captured signal on the hardware device is compressed and sent to the selected ReDat Recording Unit. In addition to the captured video signal, both types of devices can also record audio input from an ambient microphone and two USB devices, called HID channels.

HID channels monitor events such as: keystrokes on the keyboard, direction and intensity of movement, mouse clicks and scrolling, or touchscreen control.

Recordings from these devices can be used as addition to recordings from other technologies and help document and evaluate critical situations. The microphone recording mode is either permanent, or controlled by reaching an adjustable Voice Activity Level (VOX). Recording can be affected by combining the VOX level at the desired input and the directional characteristics of the microphone.

Condenser microphones with an XLR connector are used for recording.

In the event of a power failure from external adapters, power needed to maintain DVI or DP signal pass-through is provided by emergency power from the connected USB interface. So-called fail safe video bypass.
